The Lab-Grown Diamond Ring You Need to See to Believe

Lab-grown diamonds have been pushing the boundaries of innovation, so it's no wonder they recently piqued the interest of two top designers. Renowned industrial designers Sir Jony Ive and Marc Newson have dreamed-up and crafted a ring that has everyone talking – the first diamond ring made 100% of diamonds with absolutely no metal band or setting. Essentially a glimmering piece of diamond art to adorn a very lucky finger.

"It floats on the finger and is flawlessly cut. It’s essentially a solid block carved with intricate facets and a hole through the middle—a tiny, glittering sculpture."

They say you have to see it to believe it and the photo shown here is proof enough.

Not only was this stunning ring ethically lab-grown in environmentally and socially conscious conditions, it will be used to create even more good. The ring will be auctioned by Sotheby's during Art Basel Miami on December 5th with proceeds going to benefit Bono's charity Red (which raises funds for HIV/AIDS programs in Africa) as well as the Rebuild Foundation initiative in Chicago.

When innovation, design and beauty come together for a cause, it's something to feel good about.
